Setting HVAC Maintenance Intervals by Machine Hours

A framework for aligning HVAC inspection intervals with machine-hour milestones and planned shutdown windows.

Hours, not calendars

Calendar-based servicing over- and under-services a mixed fleet simultaneously. Anchoring HVAC inspections to machine-hour milestones aligns HVAC work with existing planned maintenance events and removes additional standdown.

Interval selection

Start with a conservative interval per machine class, then extend or compress based on observed failure data over two service cycles. Machine class, environment and duty cycle each shift the appropriate interval.

Evidence and reporting

Each intervention should produce measured values, parts consumed and observed defects. Aggregated per machine class, this becomes the basis for cost per operating hour reporting.

Applied context

This document reflects our field experience on mobile plant in surface environments across national mining operations. Site conditions vary — we recommend verification against your own measured data.
